Samarkand (Uzbekistan)

View from the 8th-floor guest room of Hotel Samarkand.          The Gur-e-Amir is said to be a symbol of Samarkand that refers to as 'The Blue City'.

Sherdor Madrasa

 Ulugh Beg Madrasa,  founded in 1420 by Ulugh Beg, the grandson of Timur.

Bibi-Khanym Mosque, the largest mosque in Central Asia, founded by Timur.
The historic center of Samarkand is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
